Ten of the Best Non-Cheesy Personalised Gifts

We all love the idea of personalised gifts; the kind of gifts we give to our friends and loved ones that make them smile and feel special, because the present means we know them so well. So why are there so many cheesy personalised presents out there?

We may be biased because our whole company is based on creating tasteful, beautiful bespoke and personalised gifts (take a look at some of them here) but when we go looking for alternative ideas for personalised presents, we sometimes get confused. Is there anyone out there who would actually like a personalised pair of underpants?

There are so many lovely personalised gifts available. All it takes is a bit of imagination and a spot of personal knowledge – and like magic, you’ve got a really great personalised gift idea waiting to be realised.

Still stuck for inspiration? Here’s a list we made earlier:

Ten of the Best Non-cheesy Personalised Gifts

1.A Personalised family portrait

Before you think it, this isn’t your average trip to the photographers’ – and it’s not an oil painting either. Companies like Posterhaste have bespoke artwork that you can customise to suit whoever you’re sending your gift to, whether it’s to granny and grandad or your other half.

  1. Monogrammed anything

… except towels! Unless you’re the Queen. Monogrammed accessories always feel fancy and bespoke, and they’re a great way to lift a simple leather purse or wallet if you think it might be a little plain.

  1. Homeware made from their favourite record

If your giftee loves music, why not track down an old vinyl copy of their favourite band or song in a charity shop and turn it into a useful fruit bowl? It’s surprisingly easy! Just follow these instructions.

  1. Birthstone jewellery

If you’re looking for birthday jewellery, this is ideal. Make sure to choose the right type for your friend or loved one though – if they wear necklaces, don’t get them a ring! You’ll only be disappointed if they don’t wear it. Get them something you know they’ll love!

  1. Artwork from their favourite film

If they’re a Marvel or DC geek, why not get them some framed artwork from their favourite film to brighten up their home? If they love romantic comedies, why not get a stand-out quote designed in a framed piece by an independent artist? Every time they look at it, they’ll smile. Guaranteed.

  1. A bespoke glass light catcher

One of the most fashionable items in homeware at the moment is a stained glass lightcatcher. Made in any number of intricate patterns and colours, you hang them from your window and watch them light up the room. Some independent artists can even create whatever you’d like – from wedges of cheese to their favourite flowers.

  1. A hamper of their favourite things

Not everyone’s favourite things are raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, but you’ll definitely be able to think of some great items to put into a gift hamper for your giftee. Include their favourite food, some new slippers or a cosy pair of pyjamas, add a band t-shirt or an accessory you know they’ll love. You can even include framed photos of the best times you’ve had together to make it even more personal. Or,  just send them a picnic hamper!

  1. Frame a map

Maps look great. They just do. So why not use them as decoration? Choose a map of their hometown, or maybe a map of somewhere you’ve been together, and frame it. You could even add notes to it, showing parts you’ve visited or places of personal importance.

  1. Make them a ‘You’re Awesome’ jar

First step – grab the biggest jar you can find. Then, get some coloured paper and some pens (and glitter and glue if the spirit moves you). Start writing reasons why that person is brilliant on little slips of paper and then pop them in the jar! You can write jokes, stories or simply write what you feel. This is a great family activity, so if it’s a gift for mum, dad, gran, grandad or even an aunty or an uncle – get everyone to join in!

  1. Create a bespoke front page newspaper for them

Our unique personalised front page newspaper gifts show off everything you love about the person you’re giving a gift to, and make them feel really special to boot! Tell us your favourite stories about them and share some photos and we’ll do the rest.
