We’ve got some fabulously exciting news here at The Occasional Reporters towers: owner and generally amazing entrepreneur Lauren (thanks, Katie – Lauren) has bagged not one but two awards for our wonderful front pages!
The first award was a highly sought-after Shooting Stars award, which Huddersfield Town Football Club presents to leading local businesses in the area. Lauren was presented with hers by none other than Sean Jarvis, the Commercial Director of Huddersfield Town who said, and we quote:
“It was a pleasure to meet Lauren, the work she does is to the highest quality, and it’s great she has stayed in the area after studying here at The University of Huddersfield.” says Sean
“I look forward to seeing the personalised page she does for the club, which we may have available via the club megastore.”
Did you see that? The Occasional Reporter will be creating a bespoke front page for Huddersfield Town. How exciting is that?
If you’re not totally familiar with the history of The Occasional Reporter, you might find it interesting to know that it was all Lauren’s bright idea. Up until she went totally freelance a couple of years ago, Lauren worked as a journalist for local and national publications. It was here she got her flair for headlines and snappy paragraphs.
But that’s not all our Lauren’s been getting up to. She also managed to bag The Occasional Reporter a much coveted online #WOW award, run by entrepreneurial legend Jacqueline Gold, CBE, Chief Executive of Ann Summers’ and Knickerbox.
The #WOW award calls for female business owners to send in a short overview of what their business involves. Jacqueline then personally selects her top three to retweet to her thousands of followers. Winners also become prestigious members of the #WOW club and can display a #WOW badge on their website to show they have been endorsed by Jacqueline.
Jacquline says of Lauren’s award: “I choose businesses that are interesting, that have strong brand values and that I think have potential to grow and succeed in their industry. I look for quality products, well designed websites and entrepreneurs who appear to have a good business sense and who have thought about what the consumer wants and how to deliver it.”
As you can imagine, Lauren is over the moon with both of these prestigious award wins, and it’s mostly down to her amazing customers who choose to buy a bespoke, personalised gift from a small local business, and who’ve been so kind and generous with their feedback! If you’d like to offer her your congratulations, why not Tweet her or leave her a message on The Original Reporter’s Facebook page?
Until next time…
